The facts of life was a tv show that Im too young to remember or just never watched but I did always think it was a clever title. That being said the facts of life in NZ are not entirely different than those in the states, there are however several glaring exceptions. First and foremost, rat tails. Those bad boys are seriously popular down here, I didnt really believe it myself until I saw no less than 10 different rat tailed blokes waiting around down town on a random afternoon. It was also solidified to me when I sat behind two matching rat tailers yesterday in sociology. Pure magic. I had to fight a nearly impossible urge tug them at the same time causing the owners head to crash together, however I resisted despite the urges. While that isnt really the most glaring difference it is a strange one and we all know that strange is what gets viewers. I guess that next strangest difference in my mind is the love of costume parties. Dont get me wrong I love costume parties but they really love costume parties, especially one
s that involve cross dressing.
Its not at all unusual to see 5 men walking a keg down the street on a Tuesday afternoon all wearing dresses in various states of intoxication. I must say the most creative/bizarre happened on a Saturday night. I walked into my friend Dave's flat only to find his 3 bewildered flat mates watching 6 guys in various costumes as they filled cups from a keg. This wouldnt seem so strange expect for the fact that they were all chained to the keg. Their costumes were all corresponding to someone else who had the same first name as them aka mike was dressed like a boxer and had facial tattoos making him mike tyson. Awesome. Very creative but we were all just left wondering why they brought the keg over to a random flat?
I have gotten a request to elaborate further on my classes and I will do so now. Contemporary media is a class that attempts to explain the different constructs, forms, interpretations of media and what the say about the population of consumers and producers. Its a pretty cool class and I actually enjoy reading the text book. No seriously.
Sociology, understandings of the self is one of those classes where definitions are impossibly important and only slightly different. My only complaint is the fact that half the readings are online and
Marketing is probably the best class in my opinion of the 4, the teacher is up to date with technology and trends so it is very applicable to the rapidly digitalizing world that we live in. We have to introduce a new product to the NZ market place as the final project so I think it should be a fun and informative class.
Maori Society is arguably the largest class in the world. With 450 eager americans (just kidding only about 100 amer
icans) it is the largest class i think i will ever attend. I still havent been able to purchase the text book because of the booming size. I am yet to have a tutorial for this class so I cant say that I really know that much about what is expected. I expect that I will not have to perform the hakka again thank god.
awesome done and done with class drudgery
now for a list
Yeah that about covers it
Not a big deal but we made that
never mind it is a big deal
Spiritually your,
Matt
